NEW YORK - Team Notes
- With a 72-64 win over DePaul on Senior Day at Madison Square Garden, St. John's improves its record to 14-2 when leading at the half this season. The Red Storm went into the locker room up 33-21 after closing the first stanza on a 7-3 run.
- The Red Storm posted a +17 (43-26) margin on the boards and improved to 11-1 this season when outrebounding the opposition.
- St. John's posted 14 team blocks, one shy of tying a season-high that has been matched twice this season, both wins, against Longwood (Nov. 26) and Monmouth (Nov. 22).
- SJU outscored DePaul 13-3 in second chance points, 11-4 on the fast break and 30-18 in bench points.
- St. John's was propelled by a 60.9 percent shooting performance from the field in the first half, its highest first half shooting percentage since a 68.0 percent effort against Georgetown on Feb. 16.
Individual Notes
- On a 3-point shot with 8:38 on the clock in the first half, D'Angelo Harrison moved into 11th place on the St. John's all-time scoring list. Harrison finished the game with 1,551 career points and is now 25 points away from passing Lloyd "Sonny" Dove for 10th in SJU history.
- Phil Greene IV has now hit a 3-pointer in nine-consecutive contests dating back to Feb. 1 against Marquette where he went 1-for-2 from behind the arc.
- Chris Obekpa recorded five blocks, the seventh time this season that the center has recorded five or more rejections.
- Sir'Dominic Pointer finished with 14 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the free throw line, setting career highs in attempts and makes from the charity stripe.
- Orlando Sanchez, playing in his final home game for St. John's, had 13 points and eight rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor to go along with two assists and two blocks.
