Pregame Quotes: St. John's vs. Seton Hall
2/19/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
On playing a Seton Hall team that has been struggling:
"Everyone is dealing with the `dog days' of February. Most teams are banged up and trying to hang tough - generating wins a priority. Our team is aware that Seton Hall has been a thorn in our side. We'll have our hands full. They're really talented. They have the best freshman class in the conference along with some crafty veterans as well."
On playing through injuries:
"It would be good to get to the point where we have a full complement of players that are healthy again. I think we can be a dangerous group when that happens."
On recruiting internationally:
"Los Angeles and New York, UCLA and St. John's both have global brands that allow us to go coast-to-coast or overseas in recruiting. The international player finds a New York City or Los Angeles attractive because of the culture, the diversity and the metropolitan aspect that comes with an urban center like New York or Los Angeles."
Senior Guard D'Angelo Harrison
On bouncing back from a tough loss:
"We are an older group, so we've been through possibly everything you can go through in your college career. It's good that we have older guys and we focus on the task at hand. Today's goal is to get better at practice, so we'll take it one day at a time and wait until Saturday."
On Seton Hall:
"Honestly, to this point every game is dangerous because everybody wants to win. No team in the BIG EAST has just laid down. I just want to beat them because they beat us last time. The younger guys on Seton Hall want to get this win, so we just have to come out prepared, play St. John's basketball and we'll be alright."
On the NCAA Tournament:
"It means everything to me and that's all I want to do. I haven't done it yet. We have done everything else from the lowest to the highest, so there is no other way to go but up. We are confident in making the [NCAA] Tournament but we need to win Saturday first."
On his last game at Carnesecca Arena:
"I love Carnesecca [Arena]. It is a different feel from The Garden. I've always loved playing there. We practice in there and every time I shoot, I want to shoot in there. [Saturday is] our last game in Carnesecca [Arena] and we will get this W."
On Chris Mullin coming to Saturday's game:
"It is just another reason why we need to win this game on Saturday. It is going to be a game to remember."
Senior Guard Phil Greene IV
On Seton Hall:
"It's going to be a great game despite what has been going on. They have guys from New York, they are going to come out with a lot of energy wanting to beat us. We have to be ready for a dogfight."
On playing his last game in Carnesecca Arena:
"We are looking forward to playing our last game in Carnesecca [Arena]. It's a different feel from The Garden. It's close knit. The fans are right on us and it's a historic gym. This is big for us seniors and we need to get a win coming off of a loss [to Georgetown]. We need to get ready and dominate by any means."
On recovering from the loss to Georgetown:
"I just know we can't play like that again. We need to come out with a better sense of urgency and more enthusiasm on the court. Like I said, Saturday we need to come out prepared and ready for a dogfight."
