Harrison Accepts P.I.T. Invite

QUEENS, N.Y. -- St. John's senior D'Angelo Harrison accepted an invitation to compete in the 2015 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament which runs from April 8-11. The four-day, 12-game tournament is held at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va.

Established in 1953, the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament welcomes 64 of the best college seniors across the nation to compete before representatives of all 30 National Basketball Association (NBA) franchises as well as international scouts. St. John's alumnus Tyrone Grant was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1999 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament which led to a free agent rookie contract in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets.
Harrison will suit up for Roger Brown's Restaurant, playing alongside BIG EAST peer JayVaughn Pinkston of Villanova in the 63rd annual event. Roger Brown's first contest is Thursday at 7 p.m.

Harrison, a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST honoree, finished second in the conference averaging 17.5 points per game. He scored in double-figures in 30-of-33 appearances, including 14 20-point performances and three 30-point efforts. Harrison was eighth in the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting percentage (.799) and sixth in 3-point field goals per game (2.0). He collected First Team NABC District 5 and USBWA All-District II honors, while also being named a 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American.Â

The 6-foot-4 senior from Missouri City, Texas finished his four-year career at St. John's third on the program's scoring list with 2,178 points. Harrison reached double-figures in 107-of-125 games in his career, including 53 20-point performances. He will graduate with a program record 264 3-pointers and ranks ninth in BIG EAST history with 1,178 points in conference games.

Harrison competed in the NABC Reese's Division I College All-Star Game on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the site of the Final Four. He recorded nine points, hitting two 3-pointers, made two steals and dished out two assists in 19 minutes for the East All-Stars.
