QUOTES: Chris Mullin First Pitch Ceremony at Yankee Stadium
5/27/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
BRONX, N.Y. -
On his baseball career as a youngster:
Actually I played in high school at Power Memorial. I played everything; I was a pitcher, catcher, first base, left field and right field. It was the one sport I progressively got worse at [laughs]. I was really good in fourth grade, decent in sixth grade and then got progressively worse.
On his baseball allegiances growing up:
I was born in '63 in Brooklyn, so the Mets were my team growing up geographically and by age. But much like in basketball, whoever was on TV that day, we didn't have as much on TV, so it was whoever was on that day and had a good game, that's who I would try to imitate.
On his experiences so far as the head coach of St. John's:
Everything I've been doing the last few months has kind of been like being in a time machine. Going back in time between the people I'm bumping into, the people I'm talking to, reuniting with old friends and family, things like that.
On whether he wishes he came back to New York sooner:
No, I think the timing is perfect.
