QUEENS, N.Y. - Former St. John's men's basketball standout Sir'Dominic Pointer stopped by campus earlier this week to discuss NBA Draft Day and his summer league debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Pointer became the 60th player in school history to be selected in the NBA Draft when the Cavaliers took him with the 53rd pick on June 26. The 6-foot-6 guard from Detroit, Mich. averaged 5.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in Cleveland's five summer league games.
Pointer's top scoring performance came in the third game against the Milwaukee Bucks posting 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in 19 minutes to lead the Cavs to their first victory of the summer. In the finale, Pointer showcased his all-around skill scoring six points to go with six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 23 minutes of action.
