QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's men's basketball head coach Chris Mullin was greeted by a capacity crowd on the upper level of the New York Yankees Steakhouse on Tuesday night, as the first-year head man sat down with CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein to discuss his playing days in Queens, his celebrated professional career and the upcoming campaign as the head coach of his alma mater.
The five-time NBA All-Star discusses in detail his vision for the St. John's program, one that blends his experiences as a national collegiate player of the year and one of the NBA's all-time greatest names.
The Brooklyn native also gave great insight into the character of his current squad.
"I love the work ethic of the group we have right now," said Mullin. "They're low maintenance and they're unselfish. They're picking things up that we're putting in each and every day so it's been a joy."
Mullin and the Red Storm will tip off the 2015-16 season on Friday, Nov. 13, hosting Wagner at Carnesecca Arena. St. John's season tickets are available now. Visit RedStormTix.com for more information.
