Marcus LoVett Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 9, 2017)- After averaging 27.5 points on 54.8 percent shooting from the field in a pair of games against Creighton and Xavier, freshman guard Marcus LoVett earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
In his last outing, LoVett exploded for a career-high 32 points on 10-of-14 shooting to go with five rebounds and three assists Saturday at No. 16/15 Xavier.
Earlier in the week against No. 10/10 Creighton, the Fort Wayne, Ind., native led the Johnnies with a 23-point performance behind a 4-of-5 shooting effort from 3-point range.
LoVett is ranked fourth among NCAA Division I freshmen in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per contest this season. He has also scored 20+ points in the last three games.
Through four conference games, LoVett is the BIG EAST's scoring leader averaging 21.8 points in league play. The freshman guard is also tied for fifth in 3-point percentage, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from beyond the arc in conference games.
LoVett previously earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Nov. 21 after averaging 27.0 points and 4.5 assists in games against Binghamton and Minnesota.
The Red Storm will return to action tonight when St. John's takes on Georgetown at 6:30 p.m. at the Verizon Center.
