“To New Yorkers, Madison Square Garden has always been the Mecca of basketball. … College kids, high school kids, NBA [players] always enjoy playing there. In 1983, when the BIG EAST Tournament came to The Garden, it was special because college basketball had basically been expelled from the Garden because of scandals. Coming back there, it’s now as strong as ever; all college teams want to come back there and play at Madison Square Garden because it’s a big attraction and it’s the Mecca of basketball. It’s a special place to play and we are fortunate enough to play a lot of our games there.”
