4x100 Meter Relay Team Takes Silver on Day Two of Penn Relays

St. John’s picked up its second medal in as many days
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2019) – The 4x100 meter relay squad captured the St. John's track & field team's second medal of the Penn Relays, held at Franklin Field, on Friday.
The Johnnies' foursome of Ja'Tae Joyner, Leah Anderson, Skyy Diop and Destiny Davis raced around the track in 46.27 seconds, edging out Pittsburgh by 0.04 seconds to claim second place and their fastest time of the season. The team has shaved off almost two seconds off of its mark at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 8 (48.13).
Joyner also jumped in her second-straight day of competition. After placing seventh out of 41 with a long jump of 5.65 meters on day one, she recorded her second longest triple jump of the outdoor season with a distance of 11.46 meters.
In the 4x200 Championship of America Invitational relay, Kafi Ottley, Diop, Anderson and Davis ran a time of 1:36.94 to win their heat and take fifth place in the event
Esmeralda Reyes was scheduled to compete in the javelin but the event was called off due to lighting.
The Johnnies head back to Franklin Field for the final day of Penn Relays as the 4x400 meter squad is slated to race in the College Final at 2:07 p.m.
