Former Red Storm teammates to headline event in conjunction with Grand Alumni Homecoming Weekend
QUEENS, N.Y. – Former St. John's basketball teammates Felipe Lopez and Tarik Turner will return to campus this weekend to host a viewing of the ESPN 30-for-30 documentary "The Dominican Dream."
The event, which will take place in conjunction with Grand Alumni Homecoming Weekend, will begin on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the Tobin College of Business Building, Room 201/202. The Tobin College of Business Building is located directly across from Carnesecca Arena.
Admission is complimentary and open to the general public.
Turner will moderate a question-and-answer session with Lopez following the conclusion of the documentary.
The film, which premiered last month, details the life of Lopez from his boyhood in the Dominican Republic to his NBA career and beyond. A star at Rice High School in Harlem, Lopez was unanimously touted as the top recruit in the nation before stepping foot on campus at St. John's in 1994. He graduated third on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,927 points before being taken with the 24th pick of the 1998 NBA Draft following an NCAA Tournament appearance. Lopez played four seasons with three different teams before embarking on a long and successful career overseas.
