Dylan Darling Throws Out Ceremonial First Pitch at Mets Game

The Red Storm men’s basketball team was honored for its BIG EAST titles and run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 on Wednesday at Citi Field

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's men's basketball guard Dylan Darling threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Wednesday's New York Mets game.

Darling, who never played organized baseball, stepped onto the mound at Citi Field and fired a pitch to St. John's Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed Kull behind home plate.

In total, 11 players from the Red Storm's 2025-26 squad were in attendance cheering on Darling from the field level. The team took photographs on the field sporting custom New York Mets jerseys and received a warm ovation when shown on the videoboard from the crowd in Queens.

The St. John's men's basketball team reached the 30-win mark for the fourth time in the program's 119-year history in 2025-26, ending with a 30-7 overall record. The Red Storm advanced to the NCAA Tournament 16 for the first time since 1999 and won BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
