David Caraher Graduates, Enters Transfer Portal

6-foot-6 wing played in 39 games for the Red Storm
QUEENS, N.Y. – After graduating from St. John's University at the conclusion of the winter intercession with a bachelor of science degree in legal studies, David Caraher has entered the transfer portal with the intent to pursue a graduate degree while continuing his basketball career.

"David is an outstanding young man and everything you could want in a teammate," said Head Coach Mike Anderson. "We are so proud of him for earning his degree from St. John's University and wish him well in the next chapter of his college career."

Caraher, who transferred to St. John's in the summer of 2018, played 39 games and made three starts over two seasons with the Red Storm. The Chapel Hill, N.C., native averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per outing while turning in an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.7-to-1.

His most memorable outing as a Johnnie came against UMass at Mohegan Sun Arena, as he came off the bench to score 17 points in a come-from-behind win. The Red Storm went 8-0 in games where Caraher scored eight or more points.Â

Caraher sat out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules after winning Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors at Houston Baptist. A third-team All-Southland honoree, he played and started in 29 games, averaging 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds for the Huskies. Caraher scored in double figures 23 times with 10 20-point performances and two 30-point showings. He finished 12th among all Division I freshmen in scoring.
