Brooke Boyd Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Boyd records two goals in 1-1 week for Red Storm
Senior defender Brooke Boyd has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Boyd, one of four Red Storm captains this season, tallied a pair of goals for the Red Storm in a 1-1 week that featured a shutout victory against Lehigh and a hard fought overtime setback to Harvard.
Against the Mountain Hawks on Thursday evening, Boyd recorded her first goal of the year and the second of her Red Storm career. The sequence started off of a free kick from Athina Sofroniou. The rookie rocketed a shot into heavy traffic but Jessica Garziano quickly corralled the loose ball. The Melville, N.Y., native then send a pass back to Michelle Money who connected with Boyd for the goal.
On Sunday in Cambridge Mass., Boyd converted off a corner kick in the 66th minute to tie the game at 2-2 and force the overtime period.
Boyd is one of three Johnnies to find the back of the net more than once this year, joining teammates Zsani Kajan and Samantha Gordon.
Boyd and the Red Storm squad will return to action on Sept. 9, as the Johnnies travel to Newark, Del. for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Delaware Blue Hens.
