St. John’s Hosts On-Campus Basketball Media Day

Red Storm men’s and women’s basketball programs welcome local media to Carnesecca Arena
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's and women's basketball programs hosted their annual on-campus media day on Thursday, welcoming members of the local media to Carnesecca Arena in anticipation of the 2022-23 campaign.
Both head coaches and every player on both teams were made available to the media.
The program began with a press conference from St. John's Women's Basketball Head Coach Joe Tartamella, who fielded questions looking toward his 11th season leading the program. The Johnnies return four of their top five scorers from last season and welcome four veteran transfers with significant Division I experience. Last season, Tartamella became the winningest head coach in program history.
After a general interview session with women's basketball student-athletes, St. John's Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Anderson took the podium and relayed his outlook on the upcoming campign, his 21st leading a Division I program. Anderson, who has never had a losing season as a head coach, touched on his team's eight returners from last year and talked about the team's highly touted group of five newcomers.
Media Day was also streamed live for a worldwide audience on ESPN3, as Ralph Bednarcazyk and John Minko preview the upcoming season and conducted interviews with coaches and players.
