Strength and Conditioning Coach brings nearly two decades of experience to Queens
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball program has announced the addition of Brandon Kuhn as the program's strength and conditioning coach.
"We're thrilled to welcome Brandon to the St. John's Basketball family," said Anderson. "He has experience at all levels of basketball and an enthusiasm for his work. Brandon's role is vitally important to our program. Our student-athletes will greatly benefit from working with him."
Most recently, Kuhn spent two years as the strength and conditioning coach for the University of Miami women's basketball program, helping the Hurricanes win 21 games and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past season.
Before arriving in Coral Gables, Kuhn served as the men's basketball strength coach at South Alabama after holding dual responsibilities as the strength coach and director of basketball operations at Manhattan College from 2017-19.
"I'm grateful to Coach Anderson for his confidence in my abilities and I'm thrilled to be here at St. John's," said Kuhn. "I look forward to continuing to build championship level habits and putting our players in the most optimal position to succeed every single time they take the court."
Kuhn's first stint in New York followed two years as the director of strength and conditioning at Coppin State and three years as an associate director at Western Kentucky, where he helped the Hilltoppers to consecutive Sun Belt Championships in 2012 and 2013.
Kuhn's start in college athletics came at Texas Tech, where he began as a graduate assistant in 2007 before eventually working his way to the role of head men's basketball strength and conditioning coach by 2011.
A 2006 graduate of Angelo State University with a degree in exercise science, Kuhn earned his master's in strength and condition from Texas Tech in 2010.
