Waterdogs attackman logged a team-high four points in Sunday’s title game
PHILADELPHIA – St. John's Lacrosse all-time great Kieran McArdle won the Premier Lacrosse League Championship on Sunday with the Waterdogs, who defeated the Chaos, 11-9.
The former Johnnie played a crucial role in today's final, logging a team-high four points (2 G, 2 A) in Philadelphia.
Trailing in the second quarter by two, 4-2 the lefty attackman fired in a pair of goals as part of a 3-0 run to jump in front, 5-4.
In the final period with the Waterdogs ahead, the Long Island native dished out two crucial assists to keep the Chaos at a distance, including the final helper of the game to Connor Kelly with 4:19 remaining. The final tally marked McArdle's 400thcareer point in the professional ranks.
In his ninth season as a pro, McArdle enjoyed the most prolific of his career, leading the league with 23 assists and ranking second with 42 points during the regular season.
During the Waterdogs title run, McArdle was lights out, posting 11 points over three games, including the game-winning goal in the semifinal round against the Whipsnakes.
A two-time NCAA All-American, McArdle starred for the Red Storm from 2010-14. While in Queens, he set program bests in points (264), goals (125) and assists (139). In his final two seasons, he logged two 80-plus point campaigns and was named the BIG EAST Attackman of the Year in 2013 & 2014, respectively.
Next month, McArdle will become the second player in program history to be enshrined into the St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame.
