St. John’s Receives Votes in Preseason Associated Press Poll for Second Consecutive Season

Red Storm received 91 votes, second-most among teams outside the top 25

QUEENS, N.Y. – For second time in as many seasons under Naismith Hall of Fame Head Coach Rick Pitino, the St. John's men's basketball team has received 91 votes in the Associated Press (AP) Preseason Top 25 poll.

The Johnnies, who earned 47 votes prior to the 2023-24 slate, logged the second-most votes by teams outside the top 25. The Red Storm was also one of six teams from the BIG EAST to receive votes.

St. John's will also sit at No. 19 in the KenPom.com ratings to open the upcoming slate, the second-highest mark since the rankings were created before the 1997 season. Only the 1999-2000 team had a higher rating to open the campaign with the seventh-highest mark in the nation prior to its Elite Eight run.
