QUEENS, N.Y. – For the second time in three weeks, junior Zuby Ejiofor was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Garland, Texas delivered a career performance, scoring 17 of his 28 points in the second half of the Johnnies' 88-71 win over Kansas State on Saturday at Carnesecca Arena. Ejiofor produced a memorable effort in the team's first game since the passing of legendary St. John's Head Coach Lou Carnesecca, shooting 11-of-17 from the floor and going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. The Red Storm's big man also pulled down nine of his 13 rebounds on the offensive glass for his third double-double of the season.
Ejiofor is one of three Johnnies averaging double figures this season, 13.6 points per game while shooting 56.8 percent from the floor. He also ranks second in the BIG EAST and 15th in Division I with 2.3 blocks per game and leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per contest.
St. John's will continue its four-game homestand when it welcomes Bryant on Wednesday evening. Tip-off from Carnesecca Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
