St. John's will look to rebound on Tuesday after its recent setback on the road at No. 7/7 Marquette. Over the last four games, the Dallas native has elevated his play by averaging 20.0 points, shooting 53.6 percent (30-56 FG) from the field.
The Red Storm aims to complete the regular season sweep of Providence for the first time since the 2020-21 season. RJ Luis Jr. also recorded 12 points and eight rebounds in the victory. The sophomore wing from Miami helped seal the game with a key offensive rebound and a free-throw in the final five seconds before Jayden Pierre's potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.
The Johnnies will look for its first win at Providence since Feb. 6, 2021, when the Red Storm knocked off the Friars, 92-81, inside Alumni Hall. Julian Champagnie posted a 24-point, 10-rebound effort, while Rasheem Dunn tallied 13 points and 10 assists in the 11-point victory.
A victory on Tuesday would also mark the Red Storm's first win inside Amica Mutual Pavilion, formerly known as Dunkin' Donuts Center, since earning a 91-86 victory on Jan. 25, 2017. Marcus LoVett and Shamorie Ponds scored 26 and 22 points, respectively, to help lead St. John's.
Providence has dropped three of its last four contests and is coming off a 75-72 setback at Butler on Saturday. Corey Floyd, Jr. led Providence with 20 points and hit three 3-pointers. Devin Carter finished with 18 points and five rebounds. The Friars' last victory came on Feb. 7 in a 91-87 overtime thriller over Creighton at Amica Mutual Pavilion. Josh Oduro (32 points, 12 rebounds) and Devin Carter (28 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles against the Bluejays to help the Providence improve to 12-2 at home this season.
