Marcus Hatten To Be Honored in BIG EAST Legends Recognition Program During 2024 Conference Tournament

Hatten scored 1,400 points in two seasons with the Red Storm from 2001-03
QUEENS, N.Y. – Former Red Storm standout Marcus Hatten will be recognized as part of the inaugural class of BIG EAST Legends Recognition Program at this year's men's basketball tournament that begins on March 13 inside Madison Square Garden.
Hatten will be honored during St. John's first contest of the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament. The Baltimore native starred for the Red Storm from 2001-03, posting 1,400 points in just two seasons, which ranks 21st on the program's career scoring list. Hatten holds the program's career scoring average record posting 21.2 points per game and ranks second in St. John's history for most points in a single season with 756 in 2002-03.
Hatten is the only player in program history to register more than 100 steals in a season, accomplishing the feat in each of his two campaigns. After tallying a program-record 105 steals in 2001-02, the two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection managed to reach the century mark with 100 steals the following season. Hatten finished his career ranked fifth all-time in steals with 205.
The creation of the BIG EAST Legends Recognition Program will be conducted annually at the conference tournament. Each of the BIG EAST's 11 member schools were tasked with selecting a former prominent coach or player from both their men's and women's programs to be honored at the upcoming BIG EAST Tournaments.
St. John's will return to Madison Square Garden on Saturday for Senior Day and its regular season finale against Georgetown. FOX will carry the national broadcast with tip-off slated for 12 p.m.
