NEW YORK – St. John's women's golf standout Xuan Khue Minh Doan has been named to the All-BIG EAST Team the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Minh Doan was one of just seven golfers from across the conference to garner league honors.
"Xuan had a great season on the course and I am so happy her consistent play shined through with this honor," said Head Women's Golf Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo. "I look for her to continue to build on her successes throughout the rest of her career at St. John's"
The sophomore made an instant impact for the Red Storm after transferring in from Wofford. Minh Doan was consistent all season long finishing best on the team in all 10 of the Johnnies' events and logged seven top-15 finishes.
The Hanoi, Vietnam native led the Johnnies with a 75.1 stroke average and shot even or under par in five rounds this season.
During the fall portion of the slate, Minh Doan finished strong logging three consecutive top-15 finishes. At the Quinnipiac Classic in October, she tied for sixth place amongst the field after carding an 11-over through 54 holes. The first-year Johnnie ended the fall on a positive note firing a 1-under, 71, in the final round at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Delaware to claim 15th place.
As the calendar turned to 2024, Minh Doan picked up right where she left off posting a season-low three-round score at the Columbia Classic in February. The sophomore shot even par over 54 holes in Melbourne, Fla to take eighth in the 90-golfer field. Following her outstanding performance, she was named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on Feb. 16.
As she continued to pace the Red Storm throughout the spring, Minh Doan shined at the BIG EAST Championships at Callawassie Island Golf Club in South Carolina. The second-year collegiate golfer registered a scorecard of 2-under, 70, in the second round, the lowest to par by a Red Storm player this season. She tied for seventh place shooting 7-over at the conference tournament as the Johnnies took fourth place.
Minh Doan becomes the third St. John's player in the last four years to earn conference honors joining Jessie Kweon (2022) and Angelica Kusnowo (2021).
