Levy scored with :01 remaining to sink Saint Joseph’s on Sunday
NEW YORK – Following Sunday's emphatic buzzer-beating game-winner, Jordyn Levy has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Labor Day.
Levy found the back of the net after corralling a blocked shot attempt, tucking one home with :01 remaining right before the final buzzer to lift St. John's past Saint Joseph's, 1-0, at Belson Stadium.
Levy's clutch strike was her first of the game and the Red Storm's 20th of the afternoon as a flurry of late-game opportunities finally paid off while down a player for the final 43 minutes. The game-winner marked the sixth of the forward's career.
The senior leads the team in goals (2) and points (4) and ranks second on the squad with nine shot attempts.
In Wednesday's setback at Yale, the striker tied for a game-high three shots in New Haven.
The conference honor marks the first for the Dix Hills, N.Y., native during her time at St. John's. Levy arrived in 2023 after transferring in from Indiana. While with the Hoosiers, she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Sept. 7, 2021.
She becomes the second Johnnie to be recognized by the league this season joining Athina Sofroniou, who was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 19.
Levy and the Johnnies will be back at Belson Stadium on Thursday night to face UAlbany at 7 p.m.
