RJ Luis Jr. Selected to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Luis averaged 21.5 points per game and shot 50 percent from 3-point range last week
NEW YORK – St. John's men's basketball standout RJ Luis Jr. was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
Luis Jr. continues to be the catalyst offensively as the Red Storm have won 11 of its last 12 games and sit atop of the BIG EAST standings with a 7-1 record in league play. In wins over Georgetown and Seton Hall, the junior averaged 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. The Miami native shot 50 percent (16-32) from the floor and 50 percent (6-12) from 3-point range.
The junior scored a team-high 19 points as the Johnnies rallied from a 15-point deficit to down Georgetown, 63-58, on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
The wing followed it up with a 24-point, eight-rebound outing at Seton Hall. He shot 9-for-13 (69.2%) from the field and made a career-high four 3 pointers on 4-of-5 (80%) shooting from deep in the 79-51 rout of the Pirates on Saturday night.
The Miami, Fla., native ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring averaging 17.8 points per game and has tallied six 20-plus point outings this season. Luis Jr. also ranks tied with teammate Zuby Ejiofor for the league-lead in double-doubles with six.
Luis Jr. currently ranks eighth in the KenPom.com Player of the Year standings and has been efficient for the Johnnies as of late. Over the last three games, he is averaging 24.3 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting from the floor.
