Kadary Richmond Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Nod

Richmond scored a team-high 19 points in the comeback win over Xavier
NEW YORK – St. John's men's basketball guard Kadary Richmond earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Richmond went for 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in 44 minutes of action in St. John's comeback overtime win over Xavier, 79-71. After the Red Storm trailed by as many as 16 in the second half, the 6-foot-6 guard made the game-tying basket to tie the game at 65 with 1:03 remaining in regulation as the Johnnies went on to win overtime. The Brooklyn native chipped in 11 points and five rebounds during the latter half and extra period.
During Wednesday's contest, he became the fourth active player in NCAA Division I to record more than 1,500 career points and 600-plus total assists joining Steven Ashworth (Creighton), Ace Baldwin IV (Penn State) and Dayvion McKnight (Xavier).
Richmond, who was named to The Sporting News Midseason All-America Third Team on Wednesday, has molded into form as of late averaging 12.2 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game during the Johnnies' six-game winning streak.
On the year, Richmond is averaging 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game. The team captain ranks top-eight in the BIG EAST in steals (4th) and assists (7th) per game.
The point guard who was named an All-BIG EAST First Team selection in 2023-24 while at Seton Hall, earns his first honor roll distinction at St. John's.
Richmond and the Red Storm will be back action on Tuesday night when it faces Georgetown at Capital One Arena at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
