Zuby Ejiofor Named to Fourth Straight BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Johnnies’ big man averaged 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in wins over Delaware and Butler
NEW YORK – Junior Zuby Ejiofor was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The Garland, Texas product picked up his fifth overall honor roll nod this week, following recognition on Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Dec. 16 and Dec. 23. Ejiofor led St. John's to a 2-1 record with wins over Delaware and Butler. He averaged 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds to go with over one steal and one block per contest. The 6-foot-9 forward also shot 62.5 percent (15-24 FG) from the field.
The Johnnies' big man registered 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting and six made free throws to go with seven boards, three assists and two swats in the team's 97-76 victory over the Blue Hens on Dec. 28. After Ejiofor chipped in another 16 points and eight rebounds in the team's one-point setback at Creighton on New Year's Eve, he rounded out the three-game slate with 14 points, all in the second half, eight boards and two steals to lift the Red Storm to a 70-62 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday.
In 15 games this season, Ejiofor is averaging 14.7 points on 58.9 percent shooting from the floor (39th in NCAA). The Red Storm's co-captain has also pulled down 7.8 rebounds per game, including an NCAA Division I second-best 4.4 per game on the offensive glass. Ejiofor also ranks 24th in the nation with 2.1 blocks per contest.
St. John's will return hit the road to face Xavier on Tuesday evening. Tip-off from Cintas Center scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
