Softball Unveils 2025 Schedule

The Red Storm is set to begin play on Feb. 7 in Texas
QUEENS, N.Y. – Head coach Michelle DePolo unveiled the 2025 St. John's Softball schedule on Tuesday.
DePolo enters her second year at the helm of the St. John's softball program. In 2024, the Red Storm tallied its third-highest win total in program history with 31 victories, including two triumphs in the BIG EAST Tournament. The 2025 squad will feature returning unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection London Jarrard and second-team conference honorees Ana Serafinko and Jess Bianco.
The Red Storm will play a 55-game regular season schedule, starting on the road for the first 25 contests in February through early March. The Johnnies will host their first game at Red Storm Field on March 12 and play 17 contests at its home confines in Queens throughout the season.
Additional game times and broadcast information will be released at a later date. Admission to all home games at Red Storm Field is free for all fans.
The 2025 campaign will open in Houston on Feb. 7, when the squad takes on Houston Christian before squaring off with Houston later in the day. Both match-ups will mark St. John's first-ever meeting with the two programs. The following day, the Red Storm will make the short trip to Beaumont, Texas, to face one of the top programs in the country, the Texas Longhorns, and host school Lamar. St. John's will wrap up its time in the Lone Star State when it returns to Houston's campus to face New Mexico on Feb. 9.
A week later, the Johnnies will head to the Sunshine State to participate in the USF Softball Tournament on Feb. 14-16. On the tournament's opening day, St. John's will meet with Penn State before taking on Loyola-Chicago. The next morning, the Red Storm will square off with the host school and former BIG EAST foe USF for the 25th time in program history. The final two games of the tournament will be decided based on the team's record from the opening three contests.
On Feb. 21-23, St. John's will compete in Winthrop's Garnet and Gold Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. The Johnnies will first play Youngstown State and Le Moyne before battling Brown and Winthrop the following day. The tournament will conclude with another match-up against Le Moyne on Feb. 23.
St. John's will then begin its spring break trip by traveling to Georgia to participate in the Kennesaw State Tournament. The tournament is set to start on Feb. 28, when the Red Storm face Saint Louis and Rider. The following day, the Johnnies are set to play ETSU and Kennesaw State before wrapping up the tournament with another contest against ETSU on March 1.
After their time in the Peach State, the Johnnies will continue their trip when they head to northern Florida to take on Mercer and host school Jacksonville on March 6. The next day, St. John's will square off with Army and UNF at the UNF Softball Complex, before wrapping up the trip against Mercer on March 8.
On March 12, St. John's will open play at Red Storm Field when it welcomes in-state foe Iona for a midweek clash. The opening homestand will continue when the Johnnies begin BIG EAST play against Georgetown on March 14-16. In last season's series, Jarrard helped the Red Storm take two of the three contests by crushing a pair of home runs in the Nation's Capital. St. John's will wrap up its opening five-game homestand with a matchup against Manhattan on March 18.
The Red Storm will play its first BIG EAST road series when it heads to the Midwest to square off with Butler on March 21-23 in Indianapolis. In last year's BIG EAST Tournament, the St. John's offense exploded against Butler, recording the program's highest run total in a conference tournament game by winning 12-2 after five innings.
The Johnnies will return to Queens on March 26 for a matchup with Fordham before welcoming Providence for a three-game set on March 28-30.
On April 2, St. John's will venture to Staten Island, N.Y., to face Wagner for the second consecutive season. In the latter game of last year's doubleheader in Queens, the Johnnies enforced the run-ahead rule with a 12-0 win in five innings as Cassidy Stouffer led the charge with a four-RBI performance.
Next on the schedule, DePaul will visit Red Storm Field for a three-game series on April 4-6. St. John's swept the Blue Demons in the Windy City last season, recording a shutout in all three games. In the opening contest, Serafinko notched a historic day by tossing a run-ahead rule no-hitter (five innings) and crushing a grand slam in the same game.
St. John's will wrap up its homestand when Stony Brook travels west for a midweek contest on April 8. All-time, the Red Storm hold a 10-7 overall advantage and a 4-2 home record against the Seawolves.
A six-game road trip is next on the slate against a pair of conference opponents. First, the Johnnies will head across the George Washington Bridge to play Seton Hall in a three-game series from April 11-13. The following week, the Red Storm will travel to Omaha, Neb., to battle Creighton on April 17-19.
On April 23, the squad will open its final homestand of the season when Hofstra comes to Queens. Defending BIG EAST Champion Villanova will take on St. John's for its final conference home series on April 25-27. The Johnnies nearly defeated the eventual champions in last year's BIG EAST Tournament, falling in extra innings.
Regular season conference play will conclude when the Red Storm heads to Storrs, Conn., to face UConn for a three-game set on May 2-4. St. John's took two of three games in last year's series, marking the program's first series victory over the Huskies since the 2012 season.
The 2025 BIG EAST Softball Championships will take place on May 7-10 in Villanova, Pa. The top six teams in the regular season standings will qualify to compete in the tournament.
