St. John's (23-4, 14-2 BIG EAST) has won 12 of its last 13 games since the beginning of 2025. The Johnnies are coming off an 82-58 victory over DePaul on Wednesday in Chicago where the Pardon My Take interview was recorded. Deivon Smith led four Red Storm players in double figures with a game-high 18 points to help the No. 10/9 Johnnies to their sixth BIG EAST road win and 14th conference victory on the season, matching the most since the 1998-99 campaign.
Prior to the win at DePaul, the Johnnies secured three victories over top-25 opponents in 12 days, including a 79-73 triumph on Feb. 16 against then-No. 24/21 Creighton. RJ Luis Jr. had 23 points, a career high 14 rebounds and five assists while Kadary Richmond also notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards against the Bluejays.
Pitino, the winningest active coach in college basketball, has won 877 games over his 37-year Division I coaching career and has led five different schools to 23 NCAA Tournament appearances. He is also the first coach to lead three different programs to the Final Four, including a pair of National Championships at Kentucky (1996) and Louisville (2013).
St. John's returns to action on Sunday when the Johnnies host two-time defending National Champion UConn at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. on FOX.
