Former St. John’s Soccer Star Rachel Daly Recognized as Member of the Order of the British Empire

Women’s soccer alumnus honored by Britian’s Royal Family
QUEENS, N.Y. – Former St. John's women's soccer standout Rachel Daly was awarded as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in King Charles' Birthday Honours List.
Daly, a 2022 European Champion with her home country of England was recognized for her services to association football. The United Kingdom government awards the honor to individuals make a difference in the community or their field of work and display moral courage.
In addition to Daly, world-renowned soccer star David Beckham, Olympic Gold Medalist Tri-athlete Alistair Brownlee, three-time major tennis winner Virginia Wade and reigning darts World Champion Luke Littler were recognized by the Royal Family.
The most decorated player in St. John's Women's soccer history Daly starred for Head Coach Ian Stone in Queens from 2013-15. The Harrogate, England native holds career records in goals (50) and total points (111) in just three seasons. She was named a NSCAA First Team All-American and the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year following an impressive senior campaign where she led the Johnnies to a 2015 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship.
Since graduation, Daly has been a rising star in the professional ranks at both the club and international levels. After being drafted and spending six seasons with the Houston Dash, Daly returned to England where she's played for West Ham and now Aston Villa in the Women's Super League. In her eight-year international career for the Lionesses, Daly made 84 appearances starting in the World Cup, Euros and the Olympics.
