St, John’s to Take on Georgia Tech and Memphis at Cayman Islands Classic

Red Storm will compete at John Gray Gymnasium on Nov. 28-29
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's Women's Basketball team will take on Georgia Tech and Memphis in the third annual Cayman Islands Classic, the organization announced.
The Cayman Islands Classic unveiled the full slate of matchups for the eight team tournament. The event will take place during Thanksgiving Week on Nov. 28-29 at John Gray Gymnasium in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
The Red Storm will kick-off the tournament against Georgia Tech on Friday, November 28 at 5 p.m. ET. The two programs will meet for the third time ever with the series split at one game apiece. In the last meeting, the Johnnies outlasted the Yellow Jackets, 69-65, on Dec. 17, 2004. The win moved St. John's to a 9-0 record, which marked the best start in program history at the time.
The following day on Saturday, November 29 the Red Storm will play the tournament's final game when it takes on Memphis at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Johnnies and Tigers will meet for the fifth time with St. John's leading the series, 3-1. The two last faced off three years ago at the Las Vegas Invitational where the Red Storm edged Memphis, 61-57, on Nov. 25, 2022.
The tournament will be divided into two divisions, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, named for smaller islands that along with Grand Cayman comprise the British territory. Florida, Georgia Tech, Memphis and St. John's will play in the Cayman Brac Division. The Little Cayman Division will include Charlotte, George Washington, Miami and Oklahoma State.
