Zuby Ejiofor Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

Ejiofor averaged 22.0 points leading the Red Storm to its second straight outright BIG EAST Regular Season Championship
QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading St. John's to its second straight outright BIG EAST Regular Season Championship, Zuby Ejiofor was named to the final BIG EAST Player of the Week of the 2025-26 season, the conference office unveiled on Sunday morning.
Ejiofor averaged 22.0 points on 72.0% (18-25) shooting from the field in a pair of wins over Georgetown and Seton Hall to lead the Red Storm to its first back-to-back BIG EAST Regular Season titles since 1984-85 & 1985-86.
Additionally, the 6-foot-9 forward shot 80% (8-10) from the free throw line, posted 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.
On his senior night on Tuesday, the Garland, Texas native showed out in the 72-69 victory over Georgetown. The team captain posted 23 points on 76.9% (10-13) shooting, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in his final regular season home game at Madison Square Garden.
In Friday night's regular season finale, despite battling through foul trouble Ejiofor paced the Johnnies to clinching the program's seventh BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. The Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year finished the contest with 21 points on 66.7% (8-12) shooting and three blocks.
The standout currently ranks top-10 in the BIG EAST in scoring (6th at 16.0 PPG), rebounding (7th at 7.1), assists (9th at 3.0) and blocks (4th at 2.0). Ejiofor is one of three players in NCAA Division I to rank top-10 in the league in all four of those statistical categories joining Utah Valley's Jackson Holcombe and Cedric Taylor of Howard.
Ejiofor ends the regular season with eight BIG EAST Weekly honors earning BIG EAST Player of the Week for the third time and landing on the honor roll on five occasions.
The Red Storm will enter the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament as the top seed for the second consecutive season. St. John's will kick-off postseason action on Thursday at noon on Peacock from Madison Square Garden against the winner of eighth-seeded Butler and ninth-seeded Providence.
