St. John’s Drops Series Finale at DePaul

The Johnnies will be back in action on April 7 in Queens
CHICAGO — The St. John's softball team fell to DePaul, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon in the finale of its three-game BIG EAST series at Cacciatore Stadium.
The Red Storm (25-13, 6-6 BIG EAST) totaled six hits in the contest, with London Slade recording a triple and scoring the team's lone run. Elanna Lysiak, Natasha Limbani, Sarah Post, Makenna Meadows and Cassidy Stouffer each added hits for St. John's.
St. John's opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Slade tripled to left center and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Red Storm an early 1-0 lead.
DePaul (13-24, 4-11 BIG EAST) answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run double to move in front, 2-1.
The Blue Demons extended their lead in the second inning on an RBI single to make it 3-1.
St. John's threatened in the third inning when Lysiak doubled to right center and Limbani worked a walk, but the Red Storm were unable to bring a run across.
DePaul added two insurance runs in the sixth inning on a two-run single to push the advantage to 5-1.
The Red Storm mounted one final push in the seventh when Limbani and Post recorded back-to-back singles, but DePaul retired the final two batters to secure the victory.
St. John's will return to action on April 7 at home when the Red Storm take on local foe Hofstra at 3 p.m. in Queens. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
