The Red Storm picked up its first win over the Pride since 2004
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's softball team defeated Hofstra, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Red Storm Field.
Tuesday's victory snapped a 17-game skid against the Pride and marked the Johnnies' first win over their local foe since April 22, 2004.
The Red Storm (26-13, 6-6 BIG EAST) totaled two runs on six hits while holding Hofstra (21-16, 14-1 CAA) to just two hits. Makenna Meadows led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Ana Serafinko also recorded two hits at the plate. Natasha Limbani added an RBI double and Madison Konopka contributed a hit in the victory.
Loreley Francia earned her 12th win of the 2026 campaign in the circle after firing six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits. Serafinko closed the contest with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out one to seal the victory and earn her fourth save of the season.
St. John's opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Serafinko singled to begin the frame before Limbani drew a walk. Meadows followed with a single to center field, driving in Serafinko to give the Red Storm a 1-0 lead.
Hofstra threatened in the top of the third inning after doubling and advancing to third on a flyout, but Francia stranded the runner with back-to-back strikeouts to preserve the advantage.
The Johnnies added an insurance run in the fifth inning. Elanna Lysiak drew a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball before moving to third on a groundout. Limbani then doubled to center field, bringing Lysiak home to extend the St. John's lead to 2-0.
Serafinko entered the circle in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.
St. John's will return to BIG EAST play this weekend when the Red Storm travel to Providence for a three-game conference series beginning April 10. All three contests will stream on Friars.com, with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
