A 2001 graduate of James Madison University, Tartamella spent his final three years helping out the women?s basketball program in various aspects. He was originally a member of the practice squad, while also helping out with staff meetings, film sessions and strategy sessions.
Tartamella was responsible for the development of a women?s club basketball team at James Madison. In his time as coach, he compiled a 30-4 record, while coordinating tournaments, travel arrangements and workout programs.
Following graduation, Tartamella spent a year as an assistant coach for the varsity boys basketball team at St. Anthony?s High School in Huntington, N.Y.
Tartamella?s vast basketball experience also includes five years working with AAU girls? basketball. Last year his team, the Long Island Renegades, finished in the top 25 at nationals.
Tartamella was able to balance school and his work with the women?s basketball program, as he graduated with a bachelor of business administration in Marketing Information Systems along with a concentration in Political Science, while maintaining a 3.4 cumulative grade point average.
Originally from Smithtown, N.Y., Tartamella is pursing an MBA in marketing management from St. John?s University with a graduation date of May 2004.
