Opening Statement…
“Obviously disappointed with our effort but I also think that [UConn] is really really good. Within our league, their ability to play small and shoot the way they do from four spots when they have Edwards in there, they play it really well. We really didn’t have many answers today and obviously they have done this to a lot of folks so far in our league. I thought we would fight a little bit harder so a little disappointing there, but we have to be able to flush it and get ready for our next one.”
On the challenge UConn provides…
“Looking at what they can do offensively, and the teams I’ve watched my entire time being in this league, obviously they have changed a little bit in some of the things they do. But the way they can shoot it right now and pressure you and guard you, I always marvel at that and Geno is the best at it that there is. Like I said, I don’t think we had much going on today.”
On bouncing back…
“Win the next one. I mean you gotta win the next one. The most important one is the next game we have. I said to them, this isn’t something that hasn’t happened to other teams they’ve played, so they have to be able to get back to practice and be able to approach the game like we normally would. You have to be able to get the next one, that’s the most important one, and you can’t let it carry over.”
On Paige Bueckers …
“She is good for the game, she is good for our league, and I think she really loves being out there and playing. As a competitor, you want her out there, as someone who loves the game, you want her out there. But look, she is unbelievable, so you appreciate great play.”
