Chrissy Montez joined the staff for the 2018 season as a Volunteer Assistant. Montez was a former St. John’s shortstop during the 2010-13 seasons where she racked up a total of 36 home runs, accounted for 124 runs, and drove in an additional 124 runs.
During her senior season (2013), Montez set a St. John's single-season record for home runs with 16, a record she still holds today. Her performance was good enough to earn her a spot on the NFCA DI All-Great Lakes Region Team for the first time. Other appearances on the single-season record book for the Santa Clara, Calif. native include runs (40, T-2nd), RBIs (41, T-8th), and slugging percentage (.706, 5th).
In her junior season the Montez was an offensive catalyst at the top of the lineup, starting in 51 of 53 games, batting .314 with team-highs in doubles (12) and stolen bases (9). Montez ranked second on the team with eight home runs and 33 runs scored, she closed out her junior year ranked third on the squad with 26 RBIs. Montez was also a keen eye at the plate, striking out just 14 times in 169 at-bats, the fewest among players with at least 50 at bats in 2012.
As a sophomore Montez started all 48 games and led the squad in hits (53), RBI (41) and total bases (81), ranking second on the team with a .346 batting average and third on the team with a .529 slugging percentage
In her rookie season Montez started in all 51 games and demonstrated great range and athleticism at shortstop, tallying a team-high 70 assists, Montez showed power at the plate, tying for second on the team with six home runs and tying for third with six doubles.
