Miller On Schanen: "Drew is probably our best pure shooter. He worked very hard over the summer and fall to improve his conditioning and game."
As A Junior (2008): Played in seven games ... had a season-high three shots in the season opener against Holy Cross (Feb. 16) ... scored a man-up goal at Georgetown (March 1) and at even strength against Siena (March 25) ... tallied three ground balls for the season, a career-best.
As A Sophomore (2007): Played in five contests ... scored his third career goal in the first game of the season at Bucknell (Feb. 18) ... dished his first career assist at Bellarmine (Feb. 24) ... totaled six shots on the season ... posted an impressive shots on goal percentage of .833.
As A Freshman (2006): Played against Air Force (March 25), Wagner (March 29) and Lafayette (April 1) ... scored two goals for two points, took a career-high four shots and collected one groundball in his season-best game against Wagner.
Before St. John's: Named first team all-state and all-county during his senior campaign at North Brunswick High School ... earned the Player of the Year award after posting 53 points (35 goals, 18 assists) ... led North Brunswick to the GMC County championship that year as well ... recorded honorable mention all-state honors as a junior ... was also the second-leading scorer in the county ... also a member of the soccer and swim teams.
Off The Field: Drew Stanford Schanen ... born June 23, 1987, in New Brunswick, N.J. ... son of Debra and Mitch Schanen ... has two brothers, Josh (25), and Jordan (23) ... enjoys surfing, playing the guitar and Xbox 360 in his spare time ... does pushups as a pregame ritual ... listens to 2-Pac and Biggie Smalls on his iPod on game day ... a sport management major with a future in coaching ... winning the GMC Championship his senior season for only the second time in North Brunswick's history was the most thrilling moment in his athletic career so far ... his favorite place at St. John's is in the classroom where he can learn new things.
