Bill Esposito

Esposito began his contributions to St. John's as a student-athlete on the baseball team and as a four-year student manager of the basketball team. After graduating, he went on to serve in the Korean War and was awarded the bronze star. In 1961, he returned to St. John's and began a two-decade tenure as the department's sports information director. He served as the president of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America, in 1976-77 and was inducted into the organization's hall of fame in 1984, the same year he was presented with the Arch Ward Award, the organization's highest honor. Mr. Esposito was also an authority on jazz, teaching courses in the subject at St. John's and appearing frequently on British Broadcasting Corporation programs about music.
