Benefactors of the 43,000-square foot, state-of-the-art Taffner Field House men's and women's basketball practice facility, which opened in 2005 and features four full-sized basketball courts, Donald and Eleanor Taffner lived lives of quiet grace and with a deep sense of caring for family, friends and the students of St. John's University. A member of the St. John's University Board of Trustees from 1995- 2010, Eleanor also served as a longtime chair of the Athletics Subcommittee. Donald, a St. John's College graduate from the Class of 1953, served as a member of the Board of Trustees' Athletics Subcommittee and Student Affairs Committee.
