Rutledge owned a stellar playing career before becoming a long-time assistant under head coach Lou Carnesecca. His tenure lasted 20 seasons on the Red Storm bench, before he retired pursue a career in administration at St. John's, working in the Alumni Relations Office and Athletic Development Office.
