Postell, Thornton, Gray Selected in CBA Draft

Lavor Postell (Albany, Ga./Westover), a second-team All-BIG EAST selection as a senior who ranks 15th all-time in scoring at St. John's, was selected 13th overall in the CBA Draft by the La Crosse Bobcats. He was the recipient of the BIG EAST Scholar Athlete of the Year Award as a senior, and is also a member of the prestigious St. John's President's Society, graduating with a 3.15 grade-point average in Spanish. Postell was a second round selection of the New York Knicks in this year's National Basketball Association Draft and the fourth pick by the Trenton Stars in the International Basketball League Draft.
With the last pick of the second round and 20th overall, Bootsy Thornton (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) was selected by Quad City of the CBA. Thornton, who played with the Washington Wizards during the NBA Summer League, was a third-team All-BIG EAST selection last year and finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game. In the IBL Draft, Thornton was chosen 41st overall by the Baltimore BayRunners.
The Quad City Thunder also drafted Chudney Gray (Bronx, N.Y./Rice) in the seventh round with the 70th pick. Gray, a four-year veteran for the Red Storm, had his best season as senior, averaging 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He was named the United States Basketball League's Rookie of the Year this summer while playing for the Long Island Surf, averaging 17.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Gray was the first pick of the third round, 17th overall, by the Baltimore BayRunners in the IBL Draft.
