St. John's Men's and Women's Swimming Sweep Stony Brook

On the mens side, St. Johns was led by senior Milos Cervic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and sophomore Pawel Sokolowski (Szczecin, Poland). Cerovic placed first in the 100 and 200 back with times of 53.52 and 1:56.03, while Sokolowski finished first in the 50 free and set a University Pool record in the 100 free with a time of 46.78. Sophomore Arkadiusz Znachowski (Raciborz, Poland) swept the breaststroke events with a first place finishes in the 100 and 200 breast, posting times of 1:01.98 and 2:10.33, respectively.
Senior Greg Danner (Pittsford, N.Y.) and sophmore Marcin Filopowicz (Bailystok, Poland) broke University Pool records in the 200 fly and 200 free with times of 1:52.47 and 1:40.84, respectively.
On the womens side, senior Melissa Kolackovsky (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and junior Elizabeth Malinowski (Singerlande, N.Y.) swept the free sprint and distant events. Kolackovsky finished first in the 50 and 100 free with times of 25.22 and 55.18, while Malinowski handled the distance events, earning victories in the 1000 and 500 free and posted a BIG EAST A cut qualfying time in the 1650 with a time of 17:31.87.
Sophomore Adi Segal (Haifa, Israel) broke the St. John's varsity record in the 200 fly with a BIG EAST A cut time of 2:07.33, while senior Laura Nuudi (Tallin, Estonia) added a first place finish in the 200 back posting a time of 2:10.35 for the Red Storm.
The St. Johns mens and womens swimming teams return to action on Wednesday, February 5, when they host Villanova University at Alumni Hall. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
