NEW YORK (AP) - Grady Reynolds scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, including five in the final 57 seconds, and St. John's beat Holy Cross 64-61 Monday night in the third-place game of the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.
The win was the first in three games for interim coach Kevin Clark, who replaced Mike Jarvis when he was fired Dec. 19. Clark was Jarvis' assistant at St. John's for the last six seasons.
Kyle Cuffe had 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for the Red Storm (3-6), who lost 63-61 in double overtime to Penn in the first round. Freshman Darryll Hill added 13 points and Elijah Ingram had 11.
Nate Lufkin had 17 points for the Crusaders (4-6), while Jave Meade added 12.
Lamont Hamilton's jumper gave the Red Storm a 57-56 lead with 2:19 to play. Lufkin tied it with the first of two free throws with 1:55 left.
Reynolds' three-point play with 57 seconds left made it 60-57, and he added a dunk off an alley-oop from Hill 14 seconds later to match St. John's biggest lead of the game.
Meade made two free throws with 35 seconds left to make it 62-59 and Ingram then dribbled the ball out of bounds under the Holy Cross basket. A jumper by John Hurley made it 62-61 with 16 seconds left, and Hill sealed it with two free throws with 10 seconds to go.
