Storm Can't Quite Climb Hill To Victory

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Mike Nardi scored 23 points and had eight assists and Allan Ray added 21 points Sunday as Villanova defeated St. Johns 85-74.
Nardi, a point guard, hit 4-of-5 3-point shots and now has scored 62 points and handed out 16 assists in his last three games.
Daryll Hill had 20 points and Grady Reynolds had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Red Storm (4-10, 0-4 Big East).
Villanova led 73-60 with 6:15 to play, but then committed four straight turnovers, leading to eight consecutive points by St. John's, the last five by Kyle Cuff. A layup by Andre Stanley cut the lead to 74-70, but the Wildcats then scored seven straight, capped by a three-point play by Ray to seal the victory.
St. John's led for most of the first half, but Nardi sparked a 14-5 Villanova run, resulting in a 31-29 halftime lead for the Wildcats.
A jump shot by Hill three minutes into the second half helped St. John's close to 39-36, but Villanova scored seven straight points capped by another Ray 3-pointer, and a 46-36 lead.
