St. John's Tops Stony Brook, 66-57

NEW YORK (AP) - Rodney Epperson scored 18 points and Daryll Hill added 17 to lead St. John's to a 66-57 victory over Stony Brook on Tuesday night.
Dexter Gray added 11 points and Lamont Hamilton had eight points and 12 rebounds for the Red Storm (2-2).
Mitchell Beauford had 15 points and Cori Spencer added 14 for the Seawolves (2-2), who have lost all six meetings with St. John's.
Beaford gave Stony Brook its last lead of the game, 9-8, then Cedric Jackson and Gray each had four points in a 13-2 run for the Red Storm. Spencer's jumper with 6:10 left brought the Seawolves within 25-18, but Hamilton and Hill each had four points as the Red Storm closed the half on an 8-2 run for a 33-20 lead.
Epperson, who was 8-of-12 from the field, hit a jumper to open the second half and give St. John's its biggest lead of the game.
Beauford had six points in a 14-4 run that got the Seawolves within 48-45 with 7:39 left, but Gray then scored four points in a 9-0 run for the Red Storm.
