St. John's Outlasts Marist, 74-66

NEW YORK (AP) - Rodney Epperson scored 26 points and Darryl Hill added 20, leading St. John's to a 74-66 victory over Marist on Sunday.
The Red Storm (4-4), who had lost two of their last three, broke the game open with a 15-5 run that gave them a 55-45 lead with 8:02 to play.
Hill started the deciding run with a 3-pointer and Epperson added two jumpers in the spurt.
Will Whittington was 7-for-14 from 3-point range and had 31 points for the Red Foxes (4-5), while Will McClurkin added 12 points.
Marist hit seven of its first 12 shots in taking an 18-11 lead, but the Red Foxes made just one of their next eight as the Red Storm went on a 10-3 run to tie it. Hill had six points as St. John's closed the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 31-25 lead.
The closest Marist got over the final 8 minutes was 65-60 on a jumper by Whittington with 2:10 to play.
