Ahlers, Tedder Receive BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Queens, NY (September 27, 2004) - Junior outside hitter Jackie Ahlers and freshman setter Lisa Tedder received BIG EAST Player of the Week and BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors for this past week, it was announced today by the conference.
Ahlers led St. John's to a 3-1 mark last week, including three straight victories to win the IPFW Invitational. She earned MVP honors at the event after averaging 6.67 kills (6.13 for the week) and registering 15 blocks. Ahlers finished the week with an average of 1.25 blocks per game and a hitting percentage of .325.

This is the fourth time Ahlers has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Tedder's first Rookie of the Week for her career at St. John's.
The Red Storm return to action this Tuesday, September 28 as head coach Joanne Persico-Smith and the St. John's volleyball program will go for their 200th win when they will host Iona at Alumni Hall. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
