Full Weekend Scheduled for St. John's Athletics

Queens, NY - Several of the St. John's athletic teams are competing this weekend. In addition to the men's and women's basketball teams finishing up their winter season, several of the Red Storm spring sports begin the early portions of their schedule.
The St. John's men's tennis team kicks off its 2005 spring schedule this weekend. The team begins play at the Columbia Invitational this afternoon on the campus of Columbia University, with individual tournament play continuing until Sunday.
Both the men's and women's basketball teams take the court against Seton Hall on Saturday, with the men hosting the Pirates at Madison Square Garden at 2 pm and the women traveling to South Orange, also for a 2 pm tip. The men, coming off a 66-57 loss at Georgetown on Tuesday, hold a 7-9 overall record and 1-5 mark in the BIG EAST. Meanwhile, the women's team, posting a 14-4 overall record and 3-4 in the league, dropped a tough 72-65 decision at No. 6 Notre Dame on Wednesday night.
On Saturday, the Red Storm men's and women's fencing teams travel to Princeton University for a quad-match with Columbia, Rutgers and the host Tigers. Both squads hold 4-0 team records having swept play at the Brandeis Invitational on November 28.
Beginning on Saturday and carrying into Sunday, the women's indoor track and field team will compete at the Metropolitan Championships, held at the 168th St. Armory,
