Recap | Final Stats | Quotes
- Hofstra won the third-straight meeting in a series between programs that dates back to the 1939-40 season. St. John's holds a 21-4 overall advantage, but each of the Pride's four wins have come in the last six meetings.
- Daryll Hill missed tonight's game with a bruised left knee. Prior to tonight, Hill had appeared in all 57 of the team's games (55 starts), including a run of 15 straight starts.
- In St. John's last game, a 67-61 win over Niagara on Saturday, Hill played less than 30 minutes (29) for just the fifth time in his career and the first time in 50 games.
- In that game against Niagara, Hill became the 42nd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. The junior is one of 29 players to accomplish the feat in three seasons or less.
- Junior forward Lamont Hamilton scored 10 the Red Storm's first 12 points to help the team overcome an early 11-0 deficit. Hamilton put in a dominant all-around effort, finishing with his second straight double-double, scoring a season-high 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds and a season-high tying four blocks.
- For Hamilton, the BIG EAST's rebounding leader with 12.0 boards per game, it was his seventh career double-double effort. Hamilton tied a career-high with eight made free throws and matched his number of free throw attempts from the first three games of the season (nine) in the first half alone.
- St. John's held Hofstra to no field goals over the final 9:25 of the first half and outscored the Pride 23-6 over that span. Junior center Aaron Spears set a new career-high of seven points with a basket early in the second half. Spears also grabbed a rebound and blocked a shot in 11 minutes of action.
- The Red Storm, the top rebounding team in the BIG EAST, continued its dominance on the glass tonight, out-rebounding Hofstra by a 40-32 margin. Seventeen of those boards came on the offensive glass. St. John's entered the Tuesday night matchup averaging a league-best 21.0 offensive rebounds per game.
- Sophomore Cedric Jackson, the team's third-leading scorer with 8.7 ppg, made his first start of the season in place of the injured Daryll Hill and responded with his first career double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds).
- It was the second time that Jackson scored in double figures this season. Jackson scored 10 or more points three times in 27 games last season.
- A career-high seven of Jackson's 13 field goal attempts were from behind the three-point line, as the Red Storm attempted a season-high 24 three-point field goals. Jackson and Eugene Lawrence each attempted seven three-pointers - the most by a St. John's player this season.
