Brooks Named To BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's senior Casie Brooks was named to the BIG EAST volleyball weekly honor roll, announced by the conference Monday. The honor comes after a 1-1 week for the Red Storm (12-7, 3-1 BIG EAST). STJ lost its first match, 3-1, on Oct. 3 at Marquette and defeated Syracuse, 3-1, on Oct. 5.
Brooks led all players with 16 kills and registered a team-high .483 hitting percentage in the Red Storm's loss to the Golden Eagles, but then helped the team rebound to defeat Syracuse by picking up a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.
The Victorville, Calif., native currently ranks second on the team with 2.86 kills per set and is third with 2.65 digs per set. Her nine double-doubles are tied for second on St. John's.
Brooks and the rest of the Red Storm return to action on Friday, Oct. 10, when the squad plays host to Rutgers. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
