St. John's Faces Notre Dame In BIG EAST Finals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - After a win in the semifinals, the St. John's men's soccer team will play Notre Dame in the BIG EAST Tournament Finals. The Red Storm and Fighting Irish will take to the field at Dick Dlesk Stadium at noon on Sunday, Nov. 15. Live stats will be available at www.bigeast.org. The game will also air live on the CBS College Sports Network and SportsNet New York (SNY), as well as other regional outlets, and will be streamed live at www.bigeast.org.
Stat Of The Week
7-4-0: St. John's record in the BIG EAST Tournament Finals. The Red Storm won four-straight titles from 1992-95. The seven tournament crowns are tied with Connecticut for the most in BIG EAST history.
Inside The Series With Notre Dame
- This will be the 19th meeting in a series that began in 1995.
- St. John's leads the all-time series 11-3-4, including a 2-0 victory earlier this season on Sept. 6 as part of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.
- The Red Storm is 2-1-2 in the past five games in the series and also has a 4-1-0 record at neutral sites.
- St. John's is 4-2-0 all-time against Notre Dame in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Red Storm was victorious in the 1997 semifinals, 1998 quarterfinals, 2001 semifinals and 2005 quarterfinals. Notre Dame defeated the Red Storm in the 2003 finals and, most recently, in the 2007 quarterfinals.
Scouting The Fighting Irish

St. John's Advances To Finals For Third Time In Four Years
- For the third time in four years, St. John's is playing in the BIG EAST Finals.
- St. John's won the crown in 2006, its seventh title in program history, as Adam Himeno tallied the game-winner for a 1-0 win in overtime against then-No. 2 West Virginia.
- The Red Storm was defeated in the 2008 finals by then-No. 12 USF, 1-0, in overtime.
Hines Tallies First-Career Postseason Game-Winner
- Walter Hines scored his first-career postseason game-winner in a 2-0 win against Providence in the BIG EAST Semifinals.
- The game-winner for Hines was the second of this season and of his career.
- The sophomore notched his first-career game-winner in a 2-0 win against DePaul on Oct. 31.
Carrillo Posts Fourth-Straight Shutout
- Derby Carrillo made five saves against Providence to post his fourth-straight shutout and 10th of the year.
- Before blanking Providence, Carrillo also posted shutouts against DePaul, Syracuse and Rutgers.
- The keeper has not allowed a goal since Oct. 24 at Cincinnati, a span of 403:49.
St. John's Extends Unbeaten Streak To 12 Games
- With a 2-0 win against Providence in the BIG EAST Semifinals, St. John's extended its current unbeaten streak to 12 games (7-0-5).
- The Red Storm has outscored the opposition 20-7, while posting six shutouts.
- The streak began with a scoreless draw at Providence on Sept. 27 and includes a 1-0-2 record against ranked teams.
